Katrineholm is historically a railroad town where two of Sweden's major railway meet. Our proposal was to create a clear landmark and portal for the city from the two main transportation hubs (train and bus stations). At the same time, the project closes off the open square to create a more human scaled square.
The accessible green roof creates an attraction point for the locals to enjoy and sled down during the winter. Open facades on the eastern and western ends of the building promote cross circulation across the square, while also providing visual cues to and from the transport stations.
This work was done during an internship at Urban Power.
